Robert the Bruce Speaks to the Spider

Robert the Bruce scrambled into the cave as it started to snow. He watched as it fell onto the ground one by one. The cold air blew outside the cave, and white breath came out of him as he panted. He laid his hands on the hard stone floor of the cave. He sighed. It was tiring to hide and keep running from Edward I and his soldiers.
As he stood up, he suddenly heard a sharp, “Twang!” Behind him. He quickly turned around to find a spider spinning a web, or rather trying to. As he looked closer, the spider spinned silk after silk, trying to weave a web, but it kept falling down. However, it kept standing up again and weaving once again, and failing. It kept trying and trying without giving up. Robert was inspired by the spider’s actions. It kept failing, but tried again without giving up. His courage came back, his broken spirits mending. He had failed and failed, but he should not give up! “I am the rightful king of Scots! I shall never give up, no matter how many times I fail. I shall be successful in the end!” He yelled out. He marched out the cave into the snow, feeling proud and courageous.
As the spider finally succeeded in weaving a web, Robert the Bruce walked through the soft snow, yelling, “I shall not give up!”
